Equipment needed in Baking Cupcakes....

There are a lot of things that we need in making cupcakes. These are just the basic equipment that we should have in our kitchen.

1) Stand Mixer or Hand Mixer
                           > A Stand Mixer, is mounted on a stand which bears the weight of the device. It is more larger and the more powerful motors than their hand-held counterparts. They generally have a special bowl that is locked in place while the mixer is operating.

                    >Hand Mixer, is a hand-held mixing device. The modern electrically powered type consists of a handle mounted over a large enclosure containing the motor, which drives one or two beaters.

2) Measuring Cup
                         > Used primarily to measure the volume of liquid or bulk of solid cooking ingredients such as flour and sugar, especially for volumes from about 50ml (2fl oz) upwards. The cup will usually have a scale marked in cups and fractions of a cup, and often with fluid measure and weight of a selection of dry foodstuffs.

3) Measuring Spoons
                              > Is a spoon used to measure an amount of an ingredient, either liquid or dry, when cooking. Measuring spoons may be made of plastic or metal. They are available in many sizes including teaspoon and tablespoon.

4) Spatula
                   >Have a handle long enough to keep the holder's hand aways from what is being lifted or flipped. The Blade often has one side longer than the other. the right side (as used) tends to be more longer than the left as this is more effective for the right handed. Spatulas for left handed exist but very rare.

5) Cupcake Pans(Tray)
                      >A pan with cylindrical indentations.

6) Mixing Bowls
                      >used to mixed all the wet/dry ingredients together.

7) Parchment Paper (optional)
                       >used in sifting dry ingredients

Hope this help you in preparing all the things needed for baking. Then again these are all the basic ones.

The Beginning...

So after I made my first cupcake I start searching some cupcakes recipe over the internet and look for some videos in YouTube. Then I remember that I used to watch "Cupcake Wars" on Foodnetwork. But that show is just so hard to know all the ingredients because of that they have to make the cupcakes on a certain period of time. (it was just so fast.) I am amazed on how they work on making all those 1,000+ cupcakes.

Then I heard of this TLC Show "DC Cupcakes" I actually watched it a couple of times but it didn't give me a hint yet that they will be my inspiration in making my cupcakes. That's where I got the simple and easy recipe of my "VANILLA CREAM CHEESE FROSTING''.

Vanilla Cream Cheese Frosting

As I continue watching and reading recipes from them, it makes me want to do more different cupcakes. I always thought that baking is not for me because I find myself doing something else like being stylist for someone or doing some fashion make over or cooking. but baking??? not really... My mom even enrolled me in a baking class when I was in elementary but didn't get totally invovled  to it because I was just so lazy during those times that I didn't even know how to make the simple chocolate chips cookies..

I always look up to those people who are good in baking. they're really doing it with love. Needless to say that when I made the my first cupcakes I felt that I enjoyed and love doing it.

Thanks to my cousin who really put and effort in giving me this special recipe book that I received last christmas. There are a lot of things that I've learned from this book which I will also share here on my blog. For beginners like me I'm willing to share everything that I know in baking cupcakes.

"The Cupcake Diaries"

After I got married, I ask my husband for a "BIG CLOSET", it's like the quote in "Sex and the City" ~~ saying "I LIKE MY MONEY WHERE I CAN SEE IT HANGING IN MY CLOSET" but then when I begin to start baking and fell in love with it, I've change my mind and told him "I WANT MY MONEY WHERE I CAN SEE YOU HAVING A GOOD CUP OF COFFEE AND A CUPCAKE WITH ME" . That makes sense that I don't need something for myself but I need something that I would enjoy staying and doing my baking in a nice kitchen with my husband and soon to be kids..

I want to make my life a little more sweeter, by doing the things I love. Since I really don't have a SWEET TOOTH, maybe my family, relatives, and friends would be my biggest fan of my cupcakes, especially kids.

TRY AT FIRST SIGHT....

"Toy Story Theme Cupcake with Vanilla Cream Cheese Frosting"

I'm not really into baking. One day just to satisfy my cravings I decided to make one. I really don't know where to start and how to make it so I've come up to using just the regular cake mix that we can buy at the grocery store. So since I'm just a beginner I don't know what to do. All I need is Eggs, Milk and Vegetable oil and that's it just mix everything and you have already the batter for cupcake. I even bought the icing ready to use. And to make the story short who-la! Cupcakes ready. It was good and the icing was fine. Everyone in the house likes it too.

And to my First attempt August of 2011 someone's Birthday is coming up and the mom request for a cupcake for the party. It was my nephew Lui, 2 year old boy who's celebrating his birthday. I come for a theme "Toy Story". The cupcake plates is designed a toy story, (it actually doesn't show in the image that well.) And this time I searched on the internet how to make cupcakes. I failed to make my own batter because I was scared to maybe I can't make it or they won't like it, so I stick to one the I use just the regular cupcake mix, But this time I did make my own icing. I found out that the "GOODNESS OF THE CUPCAKE IS IN THE ICING". I look for the best recipe that's easy to do "VANILLA CREAM CHEESE FROSTING".  To add more spice on my cupcake I bought some sprinkle, decors that I can put on top and food coloring to make it more nice to look at.

The best part of making this cupcakes is no left over everybody likes it. they even want to take home some. Good for me that my first attempt was a success.
